Join us for the FPU Course beginning on Wednesday June 1st at 7:00 p.m.

The goal of Financial Peace University is not just information. It’s transformation! There are 13 lessons that each deal with a different topic that will change the way you think about personal finance. You will learn how to save money, live on a budget, communicate about money, eliminate debt, find bargains, and experience the joy of giving. This class helps break the bad habits that rob people of financial freedom. You will meet each week to watch a video lesson, taught by best-selling author Dave Ramsey, and participate in small groups afterwards for discussion and application. Light refreshments are provided. Sorry, there is no childcare.

By registering for FPU you are also purchasing an FPU Membership Kit, which you will receive at the first meeting. This kit contains essential tools to guide you through the class. FPU Members receive a lifetime membership that will allow you to attend a class again here or anywhere in the country where FPU is offered for free. You can register by clicking the link below. On Saturday, April 9, 2011, Mildred S. Brookins moved on to eternity.  She is survived by her husband, Jimmy L. Brookins; children and spouses, Bari Brookins and John Buchanan, Bart and Kathy Brookins, and Brian and Beth Brookins, and 12 beloved grandchildren, in addition to her sister and brother-in-law Garrett and Laura Sue Hays.

This summer a team of 12 individuals will travel to Cuba to assist our Cuban brothers and sisters as they host the first Celebration Conference of Cuba. Over nine churches on the island will gather together to celebrate the Gospel.

Corey Schmatjen of Palm Vista Community Church (Miami) and Daryn Kinney of Gulf Coast Community Church (St. Pete) will serve alongside a select team of able-bodied individuals. The goal is to oversee the set-up, administration, games, special events, ministry opportunities, tear down and behind the scenes labor that a conference of this magnitude requires. We want to make it easier for our friends to enjoy this conference. From, set up to clean up. From, overseeing games to praying for those in need. From, children’s ministry to teaching opportunities. Our prayer? That we might encourage, build up and serve the churches gathered in a way that reflects our love for Christ and our love for them. This will be a demanding but rewarding trip!

• Registration closes March 31^st
• Please fill out the entire application
• Teams will be selected and contacted via email on April 1^st
• Ages 15 and up.
• $100 deposit for selected team members is due on April 15^th
• Cost for the trip covers all expenses except spending money and travel to and from Palm Vista Community Church/ Miami International Airport.
• Travel into Cuba will require a passport and a visa. Passports can take up to two months and the visa information must be turned in to Daryn Kinney by April 29^th in order to travel. This means you should get a passport ASAP if you do not have one already and you might need to have it expedited.
• There are no shots or immunizations required for this trip.

This summer we are taking a team of 35 to serve alongside of two local churches in the Dominican Republic.  Once the team arrives in the capital city of Santo Domingo we will split into two groups. One team will stay in the capital while the second team travels to the city of Santiago.  Adam Greenfield, a pastor from Riverside Christian Fellowship (Fort Lauderdale), will be leading the overall trip and Miguel Medina, of Palm Vista Community Church (Miami), will serve by leading the second team into Santiago. Each team will partner with a local church to participate in various ministry outreach activities. Much of the work will be in poor communities with an emphasis on children’s ministry, evangelism, mercy outreach, and helping the Global Health Outreach serve in medical services.  There is a strong possibility that the Santiago team will spend some time ministering in Haiti.
